blast.

cold sores are the bane of my existence. they come whenever they want to. if anyone out there knows any tricks on how to get rid of them, let me know. i'll pretty much do anything short of dancing in my swimsuit under a full moon whilst chanting poetry.

jack's first bareback.

it had to happen sometime and papa was sure to make it happen--the first bareback ride on dashy. i think he liked it. he's pretty cautious around animals but you could really tell he enjoyed sitting up there on that big horse. i was actually kind of surprised. he's interested in animals and everything...he just doesn't want to touch them (wonder where he gets that from). jack actually rode his first ride last saturday on old paint. he was good at first put he just would NOT sit still in the saddle. like everything else, it just wasn't fast enough for him.

child activated attention deficit disorder

i got this in an email from my dear friend, mindy. i looved it because it paints a very real picture of me right now and how life is EVERY day. To say the least, it really made me feel normal. i mean, honestly, i thought something was wrong with me before i read this. i know, i know, there STILL could be something wrong with me but at least we're all going down together, right sistas? so true, so true.

Recently, I was diagnosed with C.A.A.D.D. - Child Activated Attention Deficit Disorder.

This is how it manifests:

I decide to do the laundry. As I start toward the laundry room, I notice that there are cheerios all over the floor and my car keys are in the cereal bowl. I decide to pick up the cheerios before I do the laundry. I lay my car keys down on the counter, put the cheerios in the trash can under the counter, and noticde that the trash can is full. So, I decide to take out the trash. But then I think, since I'm going to be near the mailbox when I take out the trash I may as well pay the bills first. I take my checkbook off the table, and see that there is only one check left, my extra checks are in my desk in the office/playroom, so I go to my desk where I find a sippy cup full of juice.

I'm going to look for my checks, but first I decide I should put sippy cup in the refrigerator to keep it cold. As I head toward the kitchen with the sippy cup, a vase of flowers on the counter catches my eye--they need to be watered. I set the sippy cup on the counter, and I discover baby wipes that I've been searching for all morning. I decide I better put them back in the bathroom, but first I'm going to water the flowers.

I set the wipes back down, fill a container iwth water and suddenly I spot the TV remote, one of the kids let it on the kitchen table. I realize that after school when they go to watch TV, I will be looking for the remote as they fight over who lost it, but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table, so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs, but first I'll water the flowers.

I splash some water on the flowers, but most of it spills on the floor. So, I set the remote back down, get some paper towels and wipe up the spill.

Then I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do. At the end of the day: the laundry isn't washed, the bills aren't paid, there is a warm cup of juice sitting on the counter, the flowers aren't watered, there is still only one check in my checkbook, I can't find the remote, I can't find the wipes, and I don't remember what I did with the care keys.

Then when I try to figure out why nothing got done today, I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all day long, and I'm really tired.

I realize this is a serious problem, and I'll try to get some help for it, but first I'll check my e-mail. Do me a favor, will you? Forward this message, because I don't remember to whom it has been sent. Don't laugh--if this isn't you, your day is coming.

father's day 2008.

I loved father's day yesterday:
  • church. we were right on time too! (no, hell hasn't frozed over).
  • very relaxing afternoon spent eating, laughing, ignoring chaotic messes all over the house, tickling the kiddies, reading and just TALKING (it seems lynn & i never get to talk during the week).
  • bbq at randy & claudia's house. first family dinner with all the noisy grandkids together. it was great. still wondering if they'll invite us back.
  • love that my husband asked for weed killer for father's day gift.
  • grateful for my own father. he's very understanding and really does have a big mushy heart. i wish he lived closer.
  • i love lynn.

I'm old.

My blasted jaw has been giving me problems for the last decade. I figured it's about time I go to a doctor. I went and got slapped in the face with the "you are getting old stick". It was a big stick too. I have arthritis in my jaw. What? Yes, you heard me right. Who gets arthritis in their jaw? Oh, and I've lost about 40% of bone on the left side. Message to self: when something hurts (i.e. 10 years ago) get it fixed right away. Don't wait until after you get married, after Lynn graduates, after you build the house, after baby 1, baby 2, another house, the yard, vacations, baby 3 and the blue light special baby 4. Just go.
I'm falling apart and I don't like it very much.

welcome.

welcome to our new home. I hope you find it pleasant and comfortable here. we switched over for 3 reasons:

1) it's free.
2) it's free.
3) it's free.

I think those reasons are worth the hassle. There are a few other things I like about blogger already. Like, the little button in the settings tab that says "adult content". I bet you wish you knew how long I sat with my arrow on that little button wondering if I should click on it or not. Seriously, wouldn't that just be funny if I did click it and then every time you visited me here there would be a warning of "adult content" lies in your path ahead. Maybe one day it will happen. Won't you be surprised?
Anyway, thanks for coming to visit! I hope you're entertained with our life as much as we are.
